There are several other diseases that may take place if proper care of the teeth is not taken. Some diseases may be minor and can be treated easily. Others however, may cause the loss of a tooth permanently. Gingivitis

Gingivitis may be noticed when the gums start to bleed when there is pressure, such as brushing the teeth or flossing, involved. The gums also may be inflated as well.

Despite these notices, it may also be subtle and not be known to the patient till his or her dentist or hygienist tells them. It is an infection that may be painless at first.

Like tooth decay, the main cause of this disease is plaque and tartar building up. If not removed, the repercussion may be detrimental causing damage to both the teeth and the gums.

There are also several factors that may cause this disease to enhance. Reduced immunity due to chemotherapy, AIDS, and diabetes may lead to the aggravation of the gums further. Several different types of medications may be some factors as well.
